Seems like summer just rolled around and mornings now have a hint of autumn. I took two of my grandchildren on a picnic recently at our neighborhood park and they loved playing in the creek. The creek is a tributary of the Illinois River which brings me to this posting. I entered the first Illinois River Salon and this painting titled "Summertime" was juried in. The competition rules were that the paintings had to be of something within the Illinois River Watershed. I went to many beautiful remote areas I had never seen before and ended up with a painting just a few blocks from my home.
I love the nostalgic feeling of childhood memories of simple pleasures like skipping rocks and boulder hopping.
I'm pleased to announce that my painting, Early Morning will be available for sale at the upcoming 17th Annual Richard Schmid Silent Art Auction on September 2, 2012! Click here for bidding information and this year's fundraising beneficiary.
Amidst celebrating with all my kids and grandkids for the last few weeks, I did manage to finish up a few paintings. Another painting, "Early Morning" from a previous post was selected to be in the Richard Schmid auction benefiting the Rust Canyon Volunteer Fire Dept. in Colorado. Despite the horrible wildfires, they are able to go ahead with the auction on Labor Day weekend. Please check the website richardschmidauction.com as there are many beautiful paintings and it is for a good cause.
